SRB published new guidance for banks on resolvability self-assessment

The Single Resolution Board (SRB) published on 7 August 2025 new operational guidance on resolvability self-assessment for SI banks under its remit.

The guidance encompasses lessons learnt from crisis cases, best practice and the testing of banks’ capabilities. The SRB will complement the self-assessment approach with operational guidance on the testing framework, which will be published later this year.

The guidance incorporates feedback garnered from the banking industry and representatives of academia in a public consultation, notably the simplification of the self-assessment template, which reduces the work imposed upon banks without compromising on resolvability.

The Financial Stability Authority (FFSA) will adopt the new operational guidance on resolvability self-assessment also for the Finnish LSI banks considering the proportionality principle. This will start from the 2026 resolution planning cycle and the FFSA will specify its expectations for LSI banks in the 2026 kick-off letters.
